Family-Friendly Things to Do in Las Vegas

Contrary to what many people say, Las Vegas is kid-friendly and an excellent tourist destination for families. My husband and I recently visited with our 7 and 5 year old daughters, my sister and my brother in law. We were very surprised at the amount of good options we had to enjoy as a family. Even my youngest daughter says that Las Vegas is “the best place in the world because there is everything to have fun.” In this article we share with you valuable information on family-friendly things to do in Las Vegas and our best tips for a successful family trip to the so called “Sin City”.

Best Views of Las Vegas Strip

Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck

Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas

If you would like to enjoy the best 360 views of the Las Vegas Strip then you need to head to the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas hotel.

The Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas is a replica of one of Europe’s most famous landmarks. This Las Vegas attraction is located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, 46 stories above the city and is a half scale imitation of the world-famous Paris, France landmark. The view is amazing! There are small phone-shaped openings in the grating that are perfect for getting clear photos or video.

You need to buy tickets to go upstairs. Military families receive $5.00 off anytime ticket with your US Military ID. Guests that are age 60+ receive $5.00 off anytime ticket.

There was a line when we got there. The balcony you stand in line on is beautiful and it didn’t take long to get to the top. The staff is very welcoming and on our way up in the elevator we were provided with fun facts about the tower. You can stay up there as long as you’d like, and the elevators run every 5 minutes. On our way out we even found a dedicated space similar to Paris Love Lock Bridge. There is also a small shop where you can purchase refreshments and souvenirs.

Be sure not to miss this great attraction!

High Roller Ferris Wheel

The world’s tallest Ferris wheel provides stunning 360 view of Las Vegas strip, especially at night when lights are on. The ride is totally smooth and it lasts about 30 minutes. The design of the 28 spacious cabins make everyone totally comfortable even with the 550′ height.

You are allowed to bring your own drinks but there is also a bar where you can buy delicious cocktails before getting into your pod. The staff is very nice and the bartender was kind enough to gift my kids a souvenir.

We went on a Monday night and didn’t have to wait in line. Ticket price varies depending on the time of the day. Children 6 and under are free. They do provide military discount.

A ride in the High Roller Ferris Wheel is definitely a Must-Do while in Las Vegas especially if you have kids.

Bellagio Fountains

Located at Bellagio Hotel and Casino, this amazing show features a thousand fountains enhanced by music and light. The display spans more than 1,000 feet with water soaring as high as 460 feet into the air. You can experience this for free every 15 or 30 minutes depending on the day of the week and the time.

It’s superb how the music and water is so perfectly synced. The show doesn’t last long and it gets crowded but it’s totally worth it!

Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Garden

The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens is a must see in Las Vegas. You will love the smell of the 30,000 flowers and plants that are part of this amazing art display.

Each season, Bellagio’s Horticulture and Engineering teams transform the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Garden so no matter if you go to Las Vegas more than once in a year, the showcase here will be different. The current showcase is called “Eco: A Season of Earthly Awareness” and it was inspired by MGM Resorts’ commitment to being a global advocate in the fight against climate change. Kudos to them!

This is a nice activity you can do for free and my kids absolutely loved it. It is a small area inside the Bellagio Hotel so it can get crowded at times but it is worth it. Let’s support their sustainability efforts! Go visit!

Mirage Volcano Show

Located outside the Las Vegas Boulevard Main Entrance at The Mirage the volcano show is worth watching at night. It happens every hour from 8pm -11pm so make sure to get there at the start of the hour. There isn’t a bad spot to watch it.

We enjoyed this show after dinner. The waterfall started to drain to signify it was going to start. The frog and crickets were chirping and then the show started. It lasted about 5 min from the beginning.

Fire, water and sound are impressive. You can even feel the heat of the fire from the sidewalk. Must see in Vegas!

Flamingo Wildlife Habitat

These relaxing 15-acre gardens located at Flamingo Las Vegas hotel are part of a beautiful and peaceful oasis right in the Strip. Our family enjoyed seeing flamingos, ducks, huge fishes, turtles and swans. There’s also tons of flowers, waterfalls, and several quiet places to take a break in the shade. It makes you feel like you’re in a tropical island! It’s not a big place but it’s free and it provides nice photo-ops.

Sweet Experiences

M&M Store

Located in Showcase Mall next to the MGM Hotel & Casino in the Las Vegas Strip, this 28,000 square foot colorful and fun location was the first M&M store ever. My oldest daughter’s initials are M.M. so this was a must for us.

We had to make a line to get inside but it didn’t take long. It is a huge store with four floors and your kids will love it! Here you will find a good selection of flavored M&Ms, both traditional and unusual. You can create your own mix of M&Ms using fixed price logo cups or with plastic bags they provide which are $8.50 per half pound.

If you are a fan of this brand you will enjoy the wide selection of M&M themed merchandise such as clothing, pillows, mugs, cups, and keychains among others. Because we visited in June it was nice to find colorful items commemorative of the Pride month.

We had fun taking pictures at some really cool spots in the store, like a replica of Kyle Busch’s 18 M&M’S sponsored NASCAR race car.

Hershey Store

If your kids love chocolate then Hershey’s Chocolate World is a nice place to explore as it offers more than 800 Hershey’s chocolates and candies in the famous New York-New York Hotel & Casino.

At this 13,000-square-feet shop you will find goodies such as milk shakes, brownies, chocolate-covered strawberries and more. We tried the cookies and cream brownie and it was delicious!

You will also find a machine to make custom wrappers, hard to find Hershey Kiss flavors, branded merchandise, gifts, souvenirs and some very cute Instagramable spots for pictures.

Coca Cola Store

This store is Coca Cola fans paradise. At the Coca Cola Store in Las Vegas you’ll find tons of vintage and modern memorabilia and really cool merchandise such as clothes, kitchen utensils and Christmas ornaments.

Their best attraction is located at the second floor. The “Taste of the World” is a small refreshment stand that you can buy a flight of Coca-Cola drinks from around the world to taste. Unfortunately it wasn’t working when we visited. Hopefully you’ll have better luck!

Vegas Family Friendly Show

Extravaganza

Of course, a visit to Las Vegas isn’t complete without attending one of their famous shows. We considered the Jabbawockeez and Cirque de Soleil but we ended up choosing a show held right at our hotel and it was the best decision ever.

Extravaganza is presented at the Jubilee Theater located at Bally’s Hotel and it really is a taste of everything you expect from a show in Vegas. We enjoyed this presentation with over 30 talented entertainers from around the world including dancers, acrobats, aerialists, skaters, ventriloquists, comedians and Vegas showgirls. Holograms presenting Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe among other artists was a really cool feature.

It really surpassed our expectations and my daughters ages 7 and 5 were engaged at all times. As a huge bonus, we were able to participate in a meet-and-greet at the end of the show and we got to take pictures with our favorite performers such as Sylvia Sylvia and Michael Jackson.

Bonus Tips for a Successful Family Vacation in Las Vegas

If you are traveling to Las Vegas with your family, these are some tips that you will definitely want to follow:

  • Wear good walking shoes. You will walk around a lot!
  • Save time and energy by using your favorite app-based transportation or taxi cabs. Hear me out, everything looks close but things are not as close as they look!
  • If you go during Summer make sure you bring water bottles with you during the day to stay hydrated. The heat can be brutal!
  • Make reservations for lunch and dinner. Whatever you do, just follow this advice or you’ll end up starving! Restaurants get full so save your space. I used the Open Table app and it worked great.

This Las Vegas vacation was definitely one for the books! If you’ve found this article useful make sure to Pin it and share it! Additionally, stop by our Instagram or Facebook page for additional information, pictures and videos.
