Best Hotel for Families in Puerto Rico: The Hidden Gem You Need to Know About!

Are you looking for the absolute best hotel for families in Puerto Rico? Look no further. In this blog post, we will unveil the hidden gem you need to know about! It’s called Villas del Mar Hau and it’s in Isabela, one of the most charming beach towns on the island’s northern coast.

Close your eyes and imagine a place where you can:

  • Fall asleep to the sound of the waves
  • Wake up and drink your coffee with a beautiful ocean view
  • Take a few steps outside your bungalow and feel the sand between your toes
  • Relax by the pool or at one of Puerto Rico’s best beaches: Playa Montones

At Villas del Mar Hau, you can experience the tropical vacation of your dreams.

As a matter of full transparency, I have to disclose that I received a complimentary stay at this property in exchange for an honest review that is included in our blog post about our Puerto Rico vacation. However, our experience was so epic that we decided to add a dedicated blog post about this hotel as well. That’s how much we enjoyed it! Here’s why.

Why is Villas del Mar Hau the Best Hotel for Families in Puerto Rico?

Location: Isabela, Puerto Rico

Getting to Villas del Mar Hau is easy. Just put Parador Villas del Mar Hau in your GPS and that will suffice. Actual address is Carr 466 km 8.9 Isabela. It is located right by Playa Montones. “Montones” is a Puerto Rican slang for “bunches”, and that is exactly the amount of fun you will have here.

From the Aguadilla airport, it is only a 20-minute drive. From Luis Muñoz Marin airport, it will be a 2-hour drive. However, you can get the most out of your drive by taking the coastal route and stopping at attractions such as Guajataca Tunnel and Cara del Indio in Isabela. You can read more about this idea in my post titled One Week in Puerto Rico with Kids. It was part of our itinerary.

Our Own Casita at the Best Hotel for Families in Puerto Rico

Our casita was like a home away from home for us. It was clean, cozy, beautifully decorated, well equipped and it had the most amazing beach view I’ve ever seen at a hotel. A number of amenities were available at our cottage, including a coffee maker, tableware, fridge, microwave, television, and air conditioning, so pretty much anything you might need to ensure a pleasant stay.

My favorite part of our villa? Enjoying my coffee on the terrace while lounging in a hammock, looking at the mesmerizing beach view. It was so amazing that when my daughters saw me they decided to steal my idea!

Amenities at Villas del Mar Hau

The hotel has one of the best beaches in Puerto Rico, Playa Montones, but it also has a pool where you can relax while the kids enjoy some water fun. Those on vacation who like to stay active have access to a gym, basketball court and tennis court. For your convenience a laundry room is available. There’s towels for pool/beach use at the kiosk and they also have bike rentals.

You can find post cards, sunglasses, Drippin Dots ice cream at the reception area, as well as a coffee machine with selection of flavored coffee and a snack machine.

Olas y Arenas Restaurant

Last but not least, a word about the in-house restaurant at Villas del Mar Hau, Olas y Arena.

Olas y Arena Restaurant features an open concept that lets you enjoy the view and ocean breeze. Although the waiters were a bit busy with a private event, the service was good. As for the food, we ordered the signature dish called Montones and it didn’t disappoint. It is a dish meant to be shared and it consists of can-can pork chops, chicken bites, churrasco steaks, mamposteao rice (rice and beans combined), Puerto Rican tostones as well as green salad.

In terms of drinks, we tried both the mango frappe and the piña colada and both were tasty and refreshing. Wouldn’t be able to pick one favorite among those two.

Staying at Villas del Mar Hau is what you need for an authentic Puerto Rican beach vacation. Here you will get the rustic, tropical island vibes of a true Caribbean destination. Get a feel of the best hotel for families in Puerto Rico by taking a quick virtual tour here!
