After quarantining for a year due to the COVID19 pandemic, we were in desperate need of a family getaway. Santa Cruz, California turned out to be a great choice for our family’s mini vacation. In this blog post, we share with you our Top 5 reasons to visit Santa Cruz Beach, CA for your next family getaway if you’re looking for a successful, stress-free, and COVID-safe family vacation.
Located in Northern California’s Bay area, Santa Cruz, CA is a beach town that I’ve had in my travel bucket list ever since I relocated to California. I had heard a lot about how fun it is and after doing some research, we decided that Santa Cruz complied with everything on our check list and it was the best destination for this year’s Spring Break trip.
What was our criteria and why was it perfect for us? For several reasons.
1. Santa Cruz Beach, CA is Driving Distance from Sacramento
We are avoiding getting into an airplane until we are fully vaccinated. Since we are based in the Sacramento Greater Area, we were looking for a fun place where we could get by driving. Santa Cruz Beach is 3 hours away. Not a bad drive at all. This meant it hit the first check on our list.
2. Santa Cruz is a Wonderful Beach Destination
Being an islander, one of the things I miss the most while living in Sacramento is having the beach close by. For this family trip I was specifically looking for a beach destination where I could enjoy some vitamin-Sea! Santa Cruz, CA is known for its beaches, so it also hit the second check on our list.
3. Santa Cruz Beach, CA is Family–Friendly
As the title of this posts suggests, this wasn’t a couple’s getaway or a kid-free trip. This was our yearly Spring Break trip and we wanted to go somewhere we could all enjoy. 4. At Santa Cruz Beach, CA You will Enjoy Nice Weather
Since we wanted to enjoy the beach (and the pool), we absolutely needed some sun. The weather in Santa Cruz Beach, CA was sunny with temperatures ranging in the 70’s on the Fahrenheit scale. Not too cold, not too hot. Fourth check marked!
5. Santa Cruz Beach, CA has Excellent COVID19 Safety Protocols in Place
After doing an extensive research, I was very impressed with how seriously the county has taken COVID19 protocols, something that has allowed to a decrease of cases in the area. They always enforce the use of masks unless you are outdoors (and socially distancing), or actively eating and drinking. If you fail to comply you could be fined. They also have hand-sanitizers left and right wherever you go. My immune system is compromised due to a congenic condition, so it gave me peace of mind to know I was visiting a place where people actually care to practice safety measures.
At the end of the day, we are very happy to have chosen Santa Cruz Beach, CA. We had a great time and made so many beautiful family memories! We had fun, enjoyed great food, received top-notch service, and stayed at a beautiful hotel with an amazing view. So, if your family-trip check list looks like ours then we strongly recommend you visit Santa Cruz. You will not regret it!
