After spending an amazing time at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, we walked a few steps towards Cannery Row and had a late lunch at Louie Linguini’s restaurant. Is it family friendly? Worth it? Do I recommend it? Is it one of the best Cannery Row restaurants? Here is our review, which will answer these and other questions you might have if you are a parent.
Quality of Food: One thing we miss about living in an island is the access to restaurants offering fresh seafood. At this restaurant, we were excited to be able to enjoy tasty seafood dishes.
My husband ordered the Roasted Dungeness Crab Legs: roasted in garlic, extra virgin olive oil and their special seasoning, the crab legs were served with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes.
I had the Piccata Monterey Roc Cod: lightly floured and pan-seared with a light piccata sauce of capers, parsley, butter, lemon juice and extra virgin oil, the cod was served with seasonal veggies and mashed potatoes.
The food was delicious! My only regret is that I was craving red snapper filet and they didn’t have it available. However, the cod was good and my hubby was delighted with the crab legs.
The girls went with the Mac and cheese. Can’t go wrong with that.
For dessert, I had the most amazing creme brûlée!
Menu Options: They have a wide variety of seafood entrees available as well as a couple of dishes with chicken or meat.
Lighter choices like sandwiches, soups and salads are also in menu. For Italian food lovers there’s also a good selection of pasta and pizzas.
For kids under 12 there’s plenty of choices from pasta and pizza to popcorn shrimp or chicken fingers and fries.
They also have a bar with lots of drink options, including non-alcoholic beverages.
Customer Service: Great service! Everyone was super nice with us! And bonus points for having personnel bilingual in Spanish! They were all very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs.
Atmosphere: This restaurant is located in a second level with a beautiful view to the bay. The story behind the name is pretty funny. It’s about a guy that after a career as an actor, athlete and adventurer returned to Monterey to fulfill his dream of opening a restaurant. Read the full story here; be ready for a good laugh!
Prices: I’d say this restaurant is more towards the luxury side. Pedro’s dish was $40 and mine was $22. A specialty mixed drink is $12. Not the right place if you are on a budget. Definitely the right place is what you are looking for is high end quality and customer service.
Parking: Like most of the restaurants located right in Cannery Row, this one has no parking available. We were able to find parking in the street before going to the aquarium and as I mentioned before, we just walked to the restaurant.
Location: Privileged! It’s located at 660 Cannery Row, on the second level above Steinbeck Plaza. Centric spot close to all the touristic attractions Cannery Row has to offer.
Kid Friendly: They have a wide variety of food options for little kids. My kids Mac and cheese was served in a cool fish design plate. They also have crayons with coloring pages. Diaper changing tables are available in the restrooms. Since they are located in a second floor, it’s good to mention they do have an elevator which makes it accessible for moms with strollers and/or wheelchairs.
My only recommendation in regards to kids would be to have small dessert options for kids. However, the waiter was nice enough to allow us split a regular ice cream dessert into two, one scoop for each of the girls.
Convenience: The waiting time wasn’t long at all but if you prefer you can make reservations. They also have group dining for special events accommodating groups up to 250 guests. A variety of payment options are available including credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Discover).
Cleanliness: The facilities are in great condition. Everything including the restrooms were clean. In terms of cleanliness, this place is on point.
Our overall experience was good. We enjoyed our lunch here and if you can afford it I would totally recommend it. If you are an Italian food lover looking for the best seafood in Monterey, CA then this is one of the best Monterey Bay restaurants that you could visit in Cannery Row.

You’re welcome! 🙂 Lots of great sea food in Monterey!
It’s so great to see a blog that has ‘kid friendly’ recommendations! The crablegs look amazing and Monterey is on our bucket list for sure!!
That’s exactly why I make restaurant reviews from a kid-friendly stand point. Cause I have looked all over the internet and there’s not much restaurant reviews useful for moms with little kids. Thanks for your feedback!
OMG, now I want crab legs! Sounds like a great restaurant and I will definitely check it out the next time I make it out there!
My husband really enjoyed his dish! Great option!
The food looks so good and am sure it taste delicious. The restaurant looks cool and very neat. Would love to check it out.
We certainly enjoyed our time there! Thanks for stopping by!
I love that they made the kids so welcome with the colouring pages and pens. So often, nice restaurants don’t do enough and parents with kids don’t feel comfortable.
I agree. No need of tablets if there’s coloring pages and crayons available!
I’m reading this before having my dinner. And the food looks so appetizing! Though I wish I can be there to try out the food but I’m way further from this place. Maybe one day I have a chance to go there, for sure will drop by this restaurant.
Hopefully you’re able to visit sooner than later! 🙂 Thanks for your comment!
That sounds like a nice place for us to dine. The place is so nice and clean and their food looks really good and tasty.
It’s definitely a good option for families with little kids!

This sounds like a great restaurant to eat at! Cleanliness is always a must whenever I’m eating out and so is a kid-friendly atmosphere.
Absolutely! I always pay attention to the cleanliness of the place. I always appreciate that!
Their dishes aren’t too expernsive. I know someone who visited recently and they said it was a bargain!
Really? I found another one really close that had better prices. But I know there’s also others way more expensive. I’d say it’s fair for the price, especially because of the quality of the food and the great service.
I heard a lot of good review about Louie Linguini’s Restaurant. How I wish I can go there and eat.
I wish I lived closer! There’s not so many sea food restaurants in the Sacramento area.

We live in Sacramento and good seafood is hard to find here, so we were super happy in Monterey having a great time enjoying seafood dishes everywhere!
I have been there, the linguinis is a bit pricey, but I must say, It’s worth it.
I agree with you 100%. Thanks for sharing your experience there as well. Very valuable for our readers.
Love the look of this place – and your cod! Also really like the idea of them being kind enough to let the kids split the dessert. This seems like a find. Just wish we were nearer!
