My husband and I started a quest looking for the best diner in the Sacramento suburbs and decided to try this Black Bear Diner near me, in Roseville, CA. Here we share our review, as always, our evaluation is made from a family standpoint. Check it out!
Quality of Food
My husband and I ordered the “Bear’s Choice”, it’s a plate that comes with two eggs, your choice of sausage, ham or bacon and your choice of pancakes, French toasts or sweet cream waffles.
My hubby opted for pancakes with fried eggs and bacon. I chose the French toasts, scrambled eggs and bacon.
The girls went with the “Bear’s Choice” as well, but from the Cubs section of the menu. They chose a scrambled egg, chocolate chip pancake and bacon. It was enough to split the plate between them both.
The food was to die for! Their special recipe for pancakes is amazing and the French toasts were great as well. The quality of the food is excellent as well as the presentation. The fresh orange juice was really good too.
Menu Options
The Black Bear Diner menu offers a wide variety of options for breakfast. They do have lunch and dinner options as well. Vegetarians are well taken care of too. Small portions and kids’ options are also available.
Customer Service
The wait time was a bit long but the waitress was super friendly.
Atmosphere
They have a pretty cool concept. You get there and you literally are entering a cabin in the woods. The decoration is right there with the concept, the name of the plates on the menu too.
They usually have a Bear puppet outside as promotion and that day he went inside to greet the customers. That was very nice, the girls were super excited.
Prices
The Black Bear Diner menu prices are fair. The kid’s plate was $5.45 so they each ate for around $2.50. That’s a good price. The adult’s dish was $10.69. I’d say it’s an average price for the area.
Parking
There is plenty of parking available at the shopping center but on more crowded days I can see it being a hassle.
Location
This Black Bear Diner location is very convenient and can be found at 6700 Stanford Ranch road. Extremely easy to find.
Kids Friendly
They have coloring pages and crayons and menu options for the kids. They also have a changing table in the restroom. The visit to the Black Bear was definitely a bonus.
Convenience
They offer a variety of payment options and they have take out boxes available. They also have a small shop where you can buy branded souvenirs which I found pretty cool! They also have a small pastry shop if you’d like to take some goodies home.
Cleanliness
The facilities are nice and clean. Everything was good!
We had a good time and we appreciated the variety on the menu and the quality of the food. Check it out if you’re in the area!

The chicken fried steak is delicious. It’s tender and well-seasoned.if there werw2 a Black Bear Diner in Texas, I would never go to Ihop again. Visited the one in Las Vegas. Going to Little Rock next month and will try to eat at that location.
Definitely better than iHop! I 100% agree with that!
Looks like great place to visit. Food looks really amazing. So delicious. Love that they have entertainments for kids. That is always bonus factor when choosing where to dine.
right? Having kid-friendly options and entertainment is super important, especially for families. And yes, the food was realy amazing! 🙂
It looks like a good family restaurant, The food looks really great and the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant is so nice. However, I hope they do something about the wait time. That will turn customers off.
